New Openreach offer to ISPs could harm competition, UK telecom regulator says

( July 28, 2026, 09:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: One of UK broadband network business Openreach's new commercial offers could harm competition and must be blocked, the country's telecom watchdog has said in a provisional decision that it has put out for consultation until Aug. 27. Ofcom's concern relates to the "Incremental New to Openreach Offer," where internet service providers can receive a monthly discount for bringing new full-fiber customers onto Openreach’s network. The regulator said it is concerned that "aggressively discounted pricing limited to certain customers" isn't fair and reasonable, and could harm competition necessary to keep prices low in the long term.Statement follows....
