South Korea rolls out domestic NPU chips across public CCTV systems
( July 28, 2026, 05:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT said Tuesday that it and the National Information Society Agency are jointly implementing a project to transform public CCTV systems by deploying domestically developed neural processing units, or NPUs. The 11.68 billion won ($7.97 million) project marks the first large-scale deployment of domestically developed NPUs in South Korea's public CCTV infrastructure and will equip about 18,100 cameras. The ministry selected Gyeongsangnam-do, Ulsan Metropolitan City and Korea Expressway Corp. through a public competition to deploy NPUs developed by Rebellions, DeepX and Mobilint at their CCTV monitoring centers to support accident prevention and emergency response.The statement is attached (in Korean)....
