EU Commission opens anti-circumvention probe into Chinese hardwood plywood imports

( July 24, 2026, 07:36 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Commission has opened an anti-circumvention investigation into imports of slightly modified hardwood plywood from China after receiving evidence that exporters may be altering their products to avoid anti-dumping duties imposed last year. The probe will examine whether adding thin outer layers of coniferous wood, bamboo or engineered veneer allows the plywood to be imported under tariff codes not covered by the existing measures. Imports will be subject to customs registration during the investigation, allowing duties to be applied retroactively if circumvention is confirmed.The statement is attached....
