China launches initiative to strengthen companies' antimonopoly compliance abroad

( July 24, 2026, 04:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said in a notice issued Thursday that it has launched a year-long initiative to strengthen Chinese companies’ foreign antitrust compliance capabilities, focusing on outbound investment, cross-border mergers and exports. The regulator said it would revise its guidance on foreign antimonopoly compliance with updated coverage of key jurisdictions and additional case studies, and expand compliance training. It would encourage companies to conduct risk assessments and embed competition compliance into operations. SAMR also said it would work with industry associations to address foreign antitrust risks linked to excessive domestic competition spilling into foreign markets, improve access to legal guidance and compliance resources, and deepen international antitrust exchanges.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
