South Korea retains adequacy status under EU's GDPR

The Personal Information Protection Commission said Friday that the European Commission found South Korea has continued to maintain a high level of data protection since receiving the adequacy decision in December 2021. The decision allows South Korean companies and research institutions to continue receiving personal data from the EU without implementing additional cross-border transfer safeguards.
