( July 24, 2026, 02:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement on Wednesday that France’s newly introduced law against ultra-fast-fashion imposes discriminatory restrictions on Chinese-invested cross-border e-commerce platforms, including Shein, Temu and AliExpress. The ministry said the law distorts fair competition and may breach the World Trade Organization’s nondiscrimination principle. It said the legislation, presented as promoting environmental protection and sustainability, amounts to a trade barrier against China, harms the legitimate interests of Chinese companies and could also hurt French consumers. China urged France to withdraw the discriminatory measures and provide a fair, transparent and nondiscriminatory business environment for Chinese companies. The ministry said it would closely monitor implementation of the law and take necessary measures if the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies are harmed.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
