Thailand competition regulator reports digital platform complaints
( July 22, 2026, 08:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Thailand’s competition regulator has reported the number of complaints involving digital platform businesses following the entry into force of its e-commerce platform competition guidelines on March 25. During the first half of 2026, the Office of the Trade Competition Commission received 16 complaints concerning digital platform conduct, with seven cases currently under fact-finding investigation and nine found to be outside the scope of the Trade Competition Act. The complaints mainly relate to restrictive delivery arrangements, promotional campaigns implemented without merchants’ consent, mandatory participation in sales campaigns, product return practices and potentially unfair fees. The regulator also said a newly established subcommittee on digital platform oversight will hold its first meeting on Thursday to develop regulatory approaches and strengthen enforcement aimed at promoting fair competition in digital markets.The full announcement is attached in Thai....
