Indonesia finalizing plans for independent data-protection authority

The new authority will operate independently of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, while submitting its reports to the president through the ministry. Nezar said a presidential regulation implementing the Personal Data Protection Law, which will regulate the establishment of the authority, is expected to be issued within the next two months.
