Japan's LY completes reports to regulators on unlawful data access
( July 22, 2026, 02:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: LY Corp., the operator of the LINE messaging app, said Tuesday that it has completed its reporting obligations to Japan's telecommunications and privacy regulators over the unlawful access to LINE user and employee data through a South Korean contractor whose computer was infected with malware, an incident first disclosed in 2023. The Tokyo-based company submitted its final reports on preventive measures to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Personal Information Protection Commission on July 15.
