Japan to strengthen JFTC framework for fair SME dealings

( July 21, 2026, 09:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's Cabinet on Tuesday approved its Growth Strategy, outlining measures to strengthen enforcement against exploitative conduct toward small- and medium-sized enterprises and independent contractors. The government plans to bolster the Japan Fair Trade Commission's enforcement capacity, including at its regional offices, and foster coordination between the watchdog and other government agencies. It also aims to ensure compliance with new payment and other requirements under the Antimonopoly Act, while promoting the fair treatment of intellectual property owned by smaller businesses.Statements are attached (in Japanese and English)....
