Expedia-CarTrawler deal under review in Australia

US-based Expedia operates online travel brands including Expedia.com, Hotels.com and Vrbo, and provides business-to-business travel-booking technology to airlines, travel agents and other partners. CarTrawler, headquartered in Dublin, supplies business-to-business technology that allows airlines, online travel agencies and other travel companies to offer car-rental, ground transportation and travel-insurance services through their own booking platforms. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission in a Monday statement said a Phase 1 decision is due by Aug. 31.The deadline for submissions is July 28.Statement follows.
