PVC pipe makers oppose US DOJ's extended stay request in US antitrust case

( July 16, 2026, 23:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: PVC pipe makers, who are defending against private US antitrust claims over alleged price-fixing, bid-rigging and market allocation, filed an opposition to aspects of the US Department of Justice's motion to extend a stay and modify discovery in the case. "The DOJ’s Proposed Order as drafted creates an unequal playing field that is unfairly tilted against [non-settling defendants]. The last sentence of the DOJ’s Proposed Order contains a provision that would limit the NSDs’ ability to obtain access to highly-relevant documents that Plaintiffs have been receiving from Settling Defendants since at least May 2025," the defendants said in their filing in the Northern District of Illinois. The DOJ's state interest in the settlement production limiation is to protect grand jury secrecy, "but that concern is insufficient in the present circumstances to justify the prejudice the limitation would impose on [non-settling defendants' here," the filing said. See attached document: ...
