In a statement Friday, the Trade Ministry said the agreement would expand Indonesia's preferential access to the Peruvian market while providing a gateway to broader Latin American markets, including members of the Pacific Alliance and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, or CPTPP. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said the first phase of the agreement covers trade in goods, granting Indonesian exporters preferential tariffs on about 91 percent of Peru's tariff lines, with negotiations on services and investment to follow.
