Accommodation platforms face unfair-terms complaint in South Korea

( July 15, 2026, 06:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korean accommodation-booking platforms Yeogi Eottae and Yanolja, along with foreign operators Agoda, Airbnb and Trip.com, face a request for the antitrust regulator to review allegedly unfair terms governing cancellations caused by overbooking or other business-side faults Three civic groups, including People’s Solidarity for Participatory Democracy, said Wednesday the platforms fail to clearly provide for compensation recommended under consumer-dispute guidelines from the Korea Fair Trade Commission, leaving some consumers with refunds only, despite possible entitlement to additional compensation. The groups alleged violations of the country’s terms-and-conditions law, including improper limits on liability, reduced compensation obligations and restrictions on consumers’ rights. The filing followed complaints from users who said same-day cancellations left them with refunds but no compensation.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
