BMG-Concord merger receives regulatory clearance in Australia

( July 10, 2026, 06:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bertelsmann and Axton’s plan to merge their music businesses — BMG and Concord — has been approved by Australia’s competition watchdog. In a determination issued on Friday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said that the merged firm would continue to face competition from alternative suppliers of music recording and music publishing services in Australia and globally. It added that these competitors include Universal Music Australia, Warner Music Australia and Sony, along with other small-to-medium suppliers. German multinational Bertelsmann and Axton Holdings plan to establish a new joint holding company, New MusicCo, combining their recording and publishing operations. Both companies operate globally and in Australia.Determination is attached....
