Bayer says Latham's antitrust complaint lacks merit

( July 13, 2026, 21:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Bayer said an antitrust lawsuit brought against it by Latham Quality should be dismissed as the allegations lack legal merit and the complaint fails to describe conduct that is improper under federal or state law or violates the past contract between the parties. "Among its many legal deficiencies, Latham's complaint should be dismissed because it engages in impermissible 'group pleading' that lumps all defendants together and does not allege who did what to whom," Bayer said in a statement. Latham filed suit after its contract to license certain seed and trait technology was terminated pursuant to its terms due to a change of control at Latham, after a nearly 20-year business relationship, it said. "The crop input and corn seed markets are competitive, fair and diverse, and Bayer competes fairly in all facets of its agricultural business and in compliance with applicable laws," Bayer said.Full statement follows:...
