YouTube has fewer eating disorder recommendations after regulation, group says

( July 14, 2026, 00:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Harmful eating disorder recommendations for teenage girls on YouTube fell to one in nine recommendations in 2026 from one in three in 2024, campaign group Center for Countering Digital Hate said a report examining whether the company's protections for young users had improved alongside the enforcement of the EU's digital services law and UK's online safety law. However, the organisation, which tested YouTube's recommendation system using simulated 13-year-old girl accounts in the US, UK and EU, said the platform's crisis resource panels were not consistently appearing where they were needed most. Statement follows, report attached....
