US FTC's Ferguson, Meador say Deere settlement ensures right to repair

( July 8, 2026, 17:11 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson released a statement, joined by fellow Commissioner Mark Meador, saying a settlement with John Deere has restored competition by ensuring American farmers enjoy the right to repair their own equipment or to turn to independent repair providers. "By expressly requiring parity between the repair resources once made available to only Deere dealers and those made available to farmers and IRPs, the settlement seeks to ensure that farmers will no longer have to pay increasingly exorbitant costs and endure service delays for necessary repairs to their Deere machinery," the commissioners said. The previous Democratic majority at the FTC disrupted active settlement negotiations with Deere when it filed its complaint against the company, Ferguson said, but the settlement reached has provided tangible benefits to American farmers.See attached document....
