AI rules need public input to avoid legitimacy crisis, researchers say at UN event

The group, which launched new initiative Citizen’s Track on the sidelines of the UN Global Dialogue on AI Governance in Geneva, Switzerland, warned that “powerful AI companies and nation states are pushing both for and against stronger regulation.” The paper proposes infrastructure for public input, and calls for more funding for democratic AI projects and for more transnational collaboration on AI regulation.Statement follows.
