Japan privacy regulator highlights law review, fewer breach notifications
( July 7, 2026, 02:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's privacy regulator highlighted progress toward amending the country's personal-information protection law in its annual report for fiscal 2025, which ended in March. The report said the Personal Information Protection Commission received 19,417 data-breach notifications from the private and public sectors, down 7.6 percent from the previous fiscal year. The commission also issued 506 guidance and advisory measures across both sectors, along with two corrective recommendations and one administrative order to private-sector entities.Statements are attached (in Japanese)....
