US judge applies DOJ search monopoly findings in Yelp antitrust suit
( July 1, 2026, 00:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: In antitrust litigation brought by Yelp, a California federal judge ruled that Google will be barred from relitigating certain issues on market definition and monopoly power that were perviously decided in the US Department of Justice's monopolization case. US Magistrate Judge Susan van Keulen's ruling establishes as a matter of law that general search services is a relevant antitrust market and that Google has held monopoly power in that market from at least 2009 to August 2024. Meanwhile, van Keulen said issue preclusion was not appropriate as to a "search advertising" market.See attached order....
