The European Commission will now begin work on shaping new legislation to address controversial questions, including how to approach copyright in the age of AI.The European Commission on Thursday closed its consultation on a proposed overhaul of the bloc’s copyright regulation, as well as new rules to manage the relationship between copyright holders and AI model developers. Across 442 responses from industry bodies, consumer groups and government departments, opinions remain stubbornly divided on how to balance protection of IP rights with the perennial need for new data to feed AI innovation....
