Japan cargo owners warned over unfair practices in logistics sector

( June 25, 2026, 06:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japan's antitrust agency on Thursday released the results of a survey of cargo owners and logistics companies, finding widespread unfair practices by cargo owners toward transport operators. The Japan Fair Trade Commission issued 779 warning letters and conducted onsite inspections at 105 cargo owners. The survey found that wholesalers and retailers frequently required trucks to wait for loading or unloading without compensation and engaged in other practices that increased costs for transport operators.
