The decision illustrates the continued difficulty which courts face in deciding on interim awards in standard essential patent, or SEP, disputes, and growing acknowledgement that just taking the midpoint is not enough.Warner Brothers and Paramount will have to pay Nokia an undisclosed amount, the UK High Court said in an interim ruling in litigation between the companies. The payment is adjustable pending a final judgment on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory, or FRAND, rates for the Finnish company’s video streaming SEPs....
