Berlin data regulator issued €80,000 in fines in 2025

( June 23, 2026, 08:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Berlin data watchdog issued fines totaling just under €80,000 in 2025, its annual report published on Tuesday said. More people contacted the regulator than ever before; after a previous record amount of submissions in 2024, that number rose again in 2025, up 52 percent to more than 9,200. In the report, data commissioner Meike Kamp addressed growing data risks concerning the police force’s new powers, as well as the growing data risks concerning the abolished transparency requirements, and of companies that violate their responsibilities when training AI models.Statement attached (in German)....
