At an initial hearing on June 17, the KPPU said Mitsubishi failed to notify the regulator on time of its acquisition of a 99.99 percent stake in Coates Hire Indonesia. The acquisition became legally effective on April 5, 2024, making May 31, 2024, the deadline for notification under Indonesia's 30-working-day rule. KPPU received Mitsubishi's notification on June 19, 2024, 11 working days after the deadline. Hilman Pujana, chair of the commission panel, said the case would proceed under the fast-track mechanism after Mitsubishi accepted the allegations, attributing the delay to erroneous advice from its previous legal counsel.
