( June 15, 2026, 16:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An EU-backed electricity grid project aimed at integrating 22 gigawatts of renewable energy in Egypt by 2030 — enough to power 10 million homes — will benefit from upgrades to substations and transmission lines in the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez regions. The project is backed by a €600 million loan from the European Investment Bank and up to €90 million in EU grants, in what the bloc describes as the first flagship project under its new strategy to deepen energy integration across the Mediterranean.Press release follows....
