( June 12, 2026, 19:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Discord is not shielded by the US Children's Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) from having to turn over data it holds about users under age 13 on its platform, and to win an injunction against Discord, Texas need not clear the hurdle plaintiffs typically must clear to win an injunction, lawyers for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a court filing. In seeking an injunction over Discord's safety settings under the state's Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act, "Texas need not prove harm, irreparable injury, or the inadequacy of damages. It does not balance the equities," the state said in a court filing. "That is not relief for nothing. The public interest is the statute’s gate. It stands in for the equitable showing a private plaintiff makes through irreparable harm— the same function, in the public’s currency," the state said. See attached document....
