Sea Swift amends contracts after Australian watchdog raises competition concerns
( June 12, 2026, 02:29 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Shipping company Sea Swift has provided a court-enforceable undertaking agreeing to amend its transport contracts after the Australian antitrust watchdog raised competition concerns over its terms, the regulator said. In a statement on Friday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said it was concerned that elements of Sea Swift’s contracts with customers were anticompetitive and could significantly increase the cost of living for Australia’s indigenous and other communities. The regulator said the company acknowledged its conduct may have breached competition laws and agreed to change its contracts to remove restrictions that prevented other sea-freight providers from competing for customers in the Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. Sea Swift’s services include shipping essential supplies to remote coastal communities in Northern Australia.Statement follows. Undertaking is attached....
