EU steel safeguard rules will enter into force in July after member states’ approval

The regulation replaces the current steel safeguard measures with a stricter tariff-rate quota system that reduces import quotas and imposes higher duties on imports above those limits, while also introducing a “melt and pour” requirement to improve traceability and prevent circumvention.
