China backs WTO consensus on extending e-transmission tariff moratorium
( June 5, 2026, 03:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China supports reaching a multilateral consensus as soon as possible on extending the World Trade Organization moratorium on customs duties on electronic transmissions, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday. Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, said at a WTO mini-ministerial meeting in Paris that China also supports discussions on fair competition, including curbing market-distorting industrial subsidies and improving policy transparency. Li said development should be placed at the center of WTO reform, including by promoting industrialization through closer integration of trade and investment and strengthening policy coordination in emerging areas such as the digital and green economies.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
