Fruitico, Fresh Express fined in Australia for horticulture code breaches

( June 4, 2026, 04:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Fruitico and Fresh Express each paid A$99,000 ($70,000) after infringement notices from Australia's competition watchdog for alleged breaches of the Horticulture Code. The alleged breaches included failing to have a Code-compliant horticulture produce agreement in place and failing to provide growers with required pricing information. In a statement on Thursday, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission said the current code requirements do not always provide growers with clear, timely information and may enable less transparent practices. The watchdog said an independent 2026 review of the Code is considering reforms, including banning opaque pricing methods and requiring more detailed and timely sales information for growers.Statement follows....
