China rejects OECD findings on industrial subsidies

( June 4, 2026, 04:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China said the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s report concluding that Chinese companies receive the highest levels of industrial subsidies relied on imprecise definitions and biased sample selection, resulting in one-sided and arbitrary conclusions. China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement Thursday that subsidies are a widely used policy tool across economies, including OECD members, and that China’s industrial subsidy policies comply with World Trade Organization rules and transparency obligations. The ministry also disputed the report’s attribution of Chinese companies’ global market success primarily to government support, saying it overlooked factors such as economies of scale, production efficiency and technological innovation. China urged the OECD to conduct objective and neutral research, use comprehensive and authoritative data and avoid politicizing its reports.Statement follows (in Chinese)....
