Japan, Philippines sign memorandum on data-protection cooperation
( June 2, 2026, 02:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary' Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission and the Philippines’ National Privacy Commission agreed Monday to strengthen cooperation amid growing demand for cross-border enforcement coordination. PPC Chairperson Satoru Tezuka and Philippine Privacy Commissioner Johann Carlos S. Barcena signed a memorandum of cooperation in Tokyo. Under the agreement, the agencies may voluntarily exchange information needed for investigations, including contact information of entities relevant to specific cases.
