Timewitch faces Japan action over freelancer-law breaches

( May 29, 2026, 08:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Japanese document-preparation company Timewitch received a corrective recommendation on Friday for violating the country's freelance-worker protection law. The Japan Fair Trade Commission said the Tokyo-based company Mto provide written transaction terms to 236 freelancers hired to create presentation materials and other documents based on clients' planning materials. The company also improperly deducted a total of 5.5 million yen ($35,000) from payments to 177 freelancers. The JFTC instructed Timewitch to reimburse the deducted amount and implement measures to prevent a recurrence.Statement is attached (in Japanese). ...
