Workday likely must face employment discrimination claims on AI tools, US judge says

While US District Judge Rita Lin scheduled oral argument for June 15 on her tentative ruling, she said two California appeals court cases suggest FEHA applies nationally to class-action claims brought by Derek Mobley and other job-seekers who say they were passed over, due to race, age and disability status, for jobs at companies that contract with Workday for hiring screening.Workday will likely have to defend against class-action allegations that its use of AI tools to weed out older job seekers violated a California employment and housing discrimination law, a federal judge said in a preliminary ruling Wednesday....
