EU critical sectors boost cybersecurity, some remain in risk zone, EU agency says

( May 28, 2026, 12:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: EU critical sectors have improved their cybersecurity over the past year as companies respond to tougher EU rules under the NIS2 Directive, but some remain in a so-called risk zone, the EU Agency for Cybersecurity, or ENISA, said in its latest annual NIS360 assessment. The critical sectors with lower-than-average maturity, determined by a range of factors including legislation and its effectiveness and companies and their preparedness, included health, railway, maritime, ICT management service, space, public administrations, drinking and waste water, it said. The press release follows.
