Finnish wild berry cartel companies should be fined €9.4m, watchdog tells court
( May 27, 2026, 10:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Arctic International, Kaskein Marja, Marja Bothnia Berries and Polarica should be fined a total of around €9.4 million for coordinating purchase prices for domestic wild berries including blueberries, lingonberries and cloudberries, the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority has told the country's Market Court. The companies also exchanged sensitive information on the wholesale prices of frozen berries and the factors affecting those prices between 2013 and 2023, it said. Rival Kiantama Oy also took part in the market collusion but was granted immunity from penalty payments because it cooperated with the watchdog to expose the cartel. Statement follows. ...
