Indonesia antitrust regulator proposes digital markets law over AI, platform risks

( May 27, 2026, 07:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Indonesian Competition Commission has proposed a standalone digital markets law, arguing that the existing competition law is struggling to address increasingly complex issues in the digital economy. In a statement on Wednesday, KPPU Chair M. Fanshurullah Asa said the proposal was presented during a legislative hearing on Tuesday. The regulator said competition concerns in e-commerce and digital platforms increasingly involve algorithms, artificial intelligence, self-preferencing, vertical integration and control of data.
