Australian Clinical Labs faces class action for 2022 data breach

In an April filing to the Australian Securities Exchange, Australian Clinical Labs acknowledged the class action and said the claim seeks compensation for alleged breaches of consumer law — breach of duty of care and/or breach of equitable duty — but does not specify the amount of damages being claimed. The pathology-services provider said it denies the breaches alleged in the claim and "intends to vigorously defend it." Australian Clinical Labs was hit with a A$5.8 million ($4.1 million) penalty last year for violating national privacy laws related to the data breach.
