The Personal Information Protection Commission said ransomware, web-shell attacks, SQL injection and abnormal access to admin pages were among the main hacking methods, reflecting increasingly sophisticated external threats and supply-chain attacks. The regulator handled 227 investigation and sanction cases last year, imposing 167.7 billion won ($111.7 million) in surcharges and 587.2 million won in administrative fines.
