UK telecoms operators to face extra security reporting duties under Ofcom's proposal

( May 12, 2026, 11:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: UK telecoms operators are set to face tougher security incident-reporting requirements under draft Ofcom guidance published Tuesday. The UK regulator said greater scrutiny of cyber breaches, large-scale outages and rural mobile disruptions is needed due to rising geopolitical tensions and increasingly sophisticated attacks. The proposals would expand Ofcom’s supervisory powers and require operators to provide more detailed incident data.
