Russian data transfer results in €100m fine for Yango in Netherlands

( May 8, 2026, 08:04 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Taxi app Yango has been fined €100 million by the Dutch data watchdog on Friday for storing personal data on Russian servers. Yango’s parent company MLU collected information about drivers and customers, such as scans of driver’s licenses, residential addresses and social security numbers. On the Russian servers that “data is not as well-protected as it is in Europe,” the regulator said, adding that the Russian government could possibly access the data as well.Statement follows, decision attached (in Dutch)....
