Don't delay Google fine, civil society groups tell EU Commission
( May 6, 2026, 14:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: More than thirty organizations have written to the EU Commission to "express grave concern" about reports that the regulator delayed a fine on Google following pressure from the US administration. The tech company has been probed for more than two years for alleged self-preferencing practices under the Digital Markets Act. "The EU’s inability to effectively tackle the market dominance of digital gatekeepers has caused significant damage to Europe’s innovators and small businesses... Political interference perpetuates these harms and compromises the goals and the efficient enforcement of the EU’s digital rules," the signatories say.Letter is attached....
