USITC recommends tariff rate quotas for QSP global safeguard relief

( May 5, 2026, 21:34 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US International Trade Commission recommends that the president impose tariff-rate quotas on imports of quartz surface products for a four year period. Chair Amy Karpel and Commissioner Jason Kearns recommended an in-quota 25 percent tariff rate and an above-quota 40 percent rate for Year 1, both of which will decrease by one percentage point for each subsequent year of the period.
