Arcom’s two-warning system for piracy breaches EU law, France says
( April 30, 2026, 14:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: French media regulator Arcom breached European data law over its response procedure regarding piracy of protected works, the national State Council said on Thursday after questioning the European Court of Justice. According to EU law, a judge must authorize more than two cross-checks of data for earlier infringements, whilst Arcom issues two warnings before referring to the prosecutor anyone whose internet connection is found to have been used for illegal downloads.
