China flags investment barriers, discrimination in EU Industrial Accelerator Act

( April 27, 2026, 03:46 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China’s Ministry of Commerce said Monday it has submitted comments to the European Commission on the EU’s proposed Industrial Accelerator Act, warning the draft would impose discriminatory restrictions on foreign investment in sectors including batteries, electric vehicles, photovoltaics and critical raw materials. The ministry said in a statement that “EU origin” requirements in public procurement and support policies would create serious investment barriers and constitute institutional discrimination. It added that Chinese investors would face unfair treatment, undermining fair competition and investment expectations in the EU, and potentially slowing the bloc’s green transition. China urged the EU to remove discriminatory provisions, including local-content requirements, mandatory intellectual property and technology transfer requirements, and public procurement restrictions. It warned of possible countermeasures if Chinese companies’ interests are harmed.Statement follows (in Chinese). ...
