Coupang, Naver, others to amend terms after South Korean regulator flags unfair terms

( April 27, 2026, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Coupang, Naver, Market Kurly, SSG.com, Gmarket, 11street and NOL Universe will revise their user terms after South Korea’s antitrust regulator found multiple unfair clauses that shifted risks onto users and vendors. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Monday it identified 11 types of problematic provisions, including broad exemptions from liability for personal data breaches, unilateral changes to payment methods and vague grounds to withhold seller payments. The regulator said the clauses were unfair terms that major open-market platforms had applied one-sidedly against users by using their superior bargaining position, and said their voluntary correction would strengthen the rights of both vendors and consumers in the e-commerce market. The companies have submitted corrective plans and committed to revising the terms promptly.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
