US Supreme Court to hear arguments on constitutionality of geofence warrants

The court will hear the case of Okello Chatrie, who is appealing a district court’s denial of his motion to suppress the geofencing data that resulted in his arrest for a 2019 robbery. The court agreed to hear the case on whether the warrant requiring Google to turn over a list of users within 150 meters of the credit union that was robbed, within two hours of the incident, violated his Fourth Amendment rights.The US Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments Monday about whether geofence warrants served on tech companies for use in criminal cases are constitutional....
