South Korea's antitrust watchdog to add two commissioners

( April 23, 2026, 08:08 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s antitrust watchdog will expand its commission from nine to 11 members by adding one standing and one non-standing commissioner, after the National Assembly passed an amendment to the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act on Thursday. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said the change comes as its caseload has grown in both volume and complexity, with annual cases rising from about 1,300 in the 1990s to roughly 2,400 in recent years. The increase, which marks the first in nearly 30 years, aims to improve the speed and quality of deliberations and decision-making, the agency said.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
